Mark Etherington, Managing Director of Brian Etherington Meat Co, was crowned victor of the “Cornish Business Leader of the Year” at the 2013 Hub Awards on Thursday November 28th at the Alverton Hotel, Truro.
Mark was delighted to receive the prestigious award in front of 120 fellow Cornish business people saying:
“It is an honour to have been awarded the title of Cornish Business Leader of the Year! I am extremely passionate about the diversification that has been implemented at Etherington’s over the past year – I hope that this success will continue into 2014 as we have lots of exciting ventures just around the corner.”
Since opening a year ago, Etherington’s Farm Shop has increased turnover by an excellent 20% each month and were awarded Gold by Taste of the West 2013.
Etherington’s Butchery Academy opened six months ago, becoming the first butchery school in Cornwall, training a range of visitors from school children to qualified chefs.
Andy Hill, Technical Manager at Etherington’s is proud of Mark’s achievements saying:
“Mark is truly deserving of this award – his strong leadership skills have seen Etherington’s grow through tough economic times, enabling the business and local economy to prosper.”
Andy continued: “Employment and training are a strong aspect of Etherington’s core business and through Mark’s overwhelming commitment we are now able to employ over 50 local people and offer training to top chefs from around the county, including Fifteen, Newquay.”
Through the Brian Etherington Meat Co the company provides wholesale and retail services to individual outlets across the South West, including some of Cornwall’s most prestigious restaurants.
Etherington’s pride themselves on producing and supplying high quality meats from locally reared and rare breed animals, supplied throughout Cornwall and on sale within their Farm Shop.
